Probate, Administration, and Estate Litigation

OUR SERVICES

Probate, Administration, and Estate Litigation

What is Probate?

Probate is the process of settling an estate where someone has passed away with a will.  This involves intervention with the Court, disbursing assets the parties listed under the will, and settling any of the deceased individuals debts.  Where no one contests a will and no problems arise, the probate process typically takes anywhere between six to eighteen months.

We have experience in multiple Surrogate's Courts throughout the Long Island and New York City area.

Whether you have been named as an executor in someone's will, or have received notification of probate of someone's will our office can assist you throughout the process.

What is Administration?

Administration is the settling of an estate where someone has passed away without a will.  The process is similar to that of probate, but New York State Law guides what individuals are entitled to from a deceased person's estate.  Here, an administrator, rather than an executor, is appointed by the Surrogate's Court to settle a deceased individual's estate.

Our office can assist you through the administration process.
